Fundado por la empresa cementera Cooperativa Cruz Azul, en el poblado de Jasso, posteriormente renombrada como Ciudad Cooperativa Cruz Azul, en el Estado de Hidalgo.Se ubica en cuarto lugar en el historial de la Primera División con nueve campeonatos obtenidos, cuatro ediciones de Copa México y tres trofeos como Campeón de Campeones, además de una Supercopa MX. En el ámbito internacional, es el segundo club con más laureles en la Liga de Campeones de la Concacaf con 6 títulos.
